LOADING AND DROP OFF
  1. Unload and drop off of crates, tool boxes etc will be at the front of George R. Brown Convention Center. Teams can unload materials and drop off students then go park.

  2. Early entrance of 3 team members will be at the entrance of Hall B3. Please remember that three team members can enter at 7:45 A.M. Team members must have safety glasses, gloves and can bring anything that can be carried in. If a team member must leave once they have entered the venue there will be no reentry until 8:30 A.M.

  3. Entrance for the rest of the team members will take place at 8:30 a.m. Teams will not have access to the elevators at the front of the building for bringing in large items. Instead, we will allow teams to drop off anything too large to carry in by hand via the loading docks at the rear of the convention center.

PARKING
  1. If you need bus parking, please see Map for Bus Parking . There is a parking lot available to park about 25 -30 buses.

  2. Surface parking for vehicles is available around the convention center (see Map). The closest surface lots to Hall B3 are on the Rusk/Jackson/Walker side of the building. Parking in these lots is $2.00 to $5.00 per day from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. with no in or out privileges. After the designated end time another parking fee is charged. This is due to after hour parking fees for the Baseball/Basketball games. Please note: if you park in these lots and do not pay the additional fee your car can be towed. George R. Brown also has a garage and parking lots as well.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  1. Food Information: No outside food or drinks are allowed inside the convention center. You may eat in the park or outside the venue. For you convenience, please refer to the Restaurant Listing for a list of places near the convention center where you can purchase food. In addition, food concessions at the George R Brown will be open on all three days.

  2. Robot Uncrating Early Entrance: On Thursday morning, 3 team members will be admitted into the GRB Center at 7:45am to uncrate the robot. The Early Entrance location is where team members will enter. Volunteers will check your team in. Once inside the Arena we ask that you do not leave for reentry. Your 3 team members must have safety glasses to uncrate the robot

  3. Drayage Charges: If your crate has a label starting that there is an overage charge and you do not agree, please see the Shepard Exposition Services Representative before uncrating your robot.

  4. Chairman's Award Information: If you have entered to compete in the Chairman's Award, oral presentations will take place on Friday. There will be a sign up sheet at the Pit Administration desk. There will signs directing you to the room. There will be a Chairman meeting at 1:30pm Thursday in the Chairman Room. Rookie Teams do not give oral presentation to the Chairman's Judges.

  5. Judges and Pit Interviews: It is highly recommended that you leave someone in your pit at all times during rounds to make sure you don't miss a judge interview.

  6. Required Forms: Don't forget your consent/release forms and Judges Survey! These forms are under the "Required Documentation" section.

  7. Things to Bring: Safety glasses, robot cart, consent/release forms, or Online TIMS roster, cameras, computer, judges survey

  8. Spare Parts Information: The Houston Regional will have nuts/bolts, velcro, zipties etc in its spare parts area. The items provided by FIRST are available as well.

  9. Safety Meeting: A safety meeting will be held on Thursday at 10:30am. The team leaders will be paged to meet at Pit Administration and proceed to the designated area.

  10. NON-WORKING ROBOTS: If you haven't completely finished your robot or have problems, please send us a message via the contact page with the topic "Non-working Robot". We will try to provide as much assistance as possible.
